Adventures in Laundryland

Have you ever wrecked a load of laundry?

No, I don’t mean like a Dry Clean Only silk blouse or a suede dress you weren’t supposed to wash conventionally…I mean, an ENTIRE load of laundry.

Well, last night, I sure did. I managed to complete two loads without incident and was about to toss the final one into the dryer, when I realized, my clothes are speckled… Rats! My first reaction was to investigate what caused these sparkly brownish jagged dots to appear on my clothes (please hold your snickering). I removed every last stitch of fabric from the washer until I heard a *cling!* At the bottom of the washtub was a single shiny black tube of Revlon Colorstay lipstick in Coffee Bean. UGH! My next reaction was to immediately rewash the load in a futile attempt to save my clothes. Twenty minutes later, I checked the washer to see if the rewash was effective; it was not… Double rats!

In this, my latest brilliant move, I lost several of my wardrobe staples: a favorite blue tank, an orange tie-dyed tank, Adam’s Surf Ballroom sweatshirt that I stole, 3 pairs of underpants, some random t-shirts, 2 pairs of adorable khaki capris, some pajama pants, etc.

Like I needed a real excuse to buy more clothes.

*banging my head against the wall*

Ain’t That A Kick In The Head

It’s 1:37am…do you know where your wife is? Well, Adam’s wife is sitting in front of her computer screen staring at it with x-ray eyes.

I’ve been Up All Night watching trash TV for three nights now just like Rhonda Shear, only I’m wearing PJ’s, much less makeup and I’m not nearly as perky. My headaches have returned in the wake-up-and-I-have-one sense; I’m awakened anywhere from 1am to 2am with throbbing temples that persist until the blessed drugs kick in. Of course, then I can’t find my slumber again until about 4 or 5am. Garet’s been a good sport about it. He keeps me company with a flurry of snuggling and purring as he tries to coax me to fill up his food dish…I feel so loved. Then we tiptoe around the house trying to keep from waking Adam, even though we want to wake Adam and make him watch Halloween 4 with us.

The worst part is the daytime. I feel like one of those Zombies wandering around Minneapolis. I desperately need to get my energy back.

So. Why am I getting headaches? Is it leftover problems from my recent dental work/torture? Is it stress from work? Is it that damn new song by Christina Aguilera? Or perhaps it’s that Microsoft is trying to trump the iPod..or maybe it’s a tumor (or tumah, as Schwarzenegger would say).

Whatever the reason, here I sit trying to peel my headache away and make myself sleepy again. Let’s see if blogging helps.

Nope, guess not.

Last night…

After he made me an unbelievable salsa chicken dish for supper, Adam and I shared a bottle of wine and watched The 40-Year-Old Virgin; we laughed like hyenas. By 10pm, I was so tired I fell asleep in his arms on the couch. He carried me to bed….awwwww.

We are DISGUSTING!

Love-Hate Relationships

Filed under: Random Thought, Weekend Update, Work — Heather @ 9:48 pm July 13, 2006

My goodness-gracious-lord-have-mercy, I’ve slacked on blogging again. Let’s see if I can catch you up, backwards-style.

This afternoon I had a “break” from my hectic life because of my greatest dread: dentist appointment. Aaaarrrggghhh! Two fillings today – one of them major. The novacaine is wearing off and the pain’s a comin’. Yes, I will be medicating myself in hopes of getting a full night of sleep (for me, this means more than 4 hours). Love my teeth, hate my teeth.

Last weekend, I attended CONvergence. *sigh* First, let me just get it out of the way and admit I had a fabulous time. Plenty of our friends went too and so we partied like it was 1999 (here’s the evidence). It was my second experience with this particular gathering of the geeks; this time around it had drama, intrigue, humor, special effects and lots and LOTS of characters. I encountered a few instances of some superbly bad acting, but hey, at least they tried, right? My B.S.-o-Meter needs recalibration after the workout it received. The costuming left a little to be desired but there were some highlights in between the black leather and velour corsets. Yeah, I’m purposely being obtuse but that’s all I’m going to publicly say about it… I’ll leave my weekend on a high note: Saturday morning, I hit the M to tha O to tha A and took in a heavenly mani/pedi combo complete with hands/feet massage. AND I bought some cute new shoes to go with my pedi. The truth: Love CONvergence, hate CONvergence.

In other geekish news, I became the owner of an iMac last week! I’ve literally used a Mac maybe 5 times in my life so you can imagine the learning curve I’m waxing on. Adam did a smashing job migrating my iTunes songs and my gazillions of photos to the new computer. Speaking of photos, I’m falling in love more and more with the iPhoto application AND my iBooth, which is the c00liest thang evah. As of yet, Adam hasn’t had time to show me how to do much so I’m still missing my playlists from my old iTunes and I need to figure out and decide how the heck to rearrange my photo “rolls” in a way that makes sense to moi. It’s been honestly frustrating not to know how to accomplish the simplest task because I haven’t worked with the software. I should mention I purchased my ‘puter at MicroCenter, which was a highly disappointing experience. Love my iMac, hate MicroCenter.

And my job? Sublimely stressful, as always. But guess what? If you remember, I won a trip to Puerto Vallarta last year by earning my way into President’s Club. Well, as of the end of June, I made President’s Club for the year already – wahoo! I don’t know where my complimentary vacation will take place next year but, again, who cares? Love my job, hate the stress.

Well, there’s been loads of other junk going on but I need to give my computer and myself a rest. Until next time, America.
